When in Rome, wear this...

Hey there, style aficionados!

I just had the most incredible, brief trip to Rome last week-end, and let me tell you, the Eternal City is not just about ancient ruins and delicious pasta – it's also a masterclass in effortless menswear. Roman men have a knack for looking incredibly sharp, even in the heat, and it's the perfect opportunity for you to step up your style game. My goal for you is simple: be stylish, stay cool, and blend in with the impeccably dressed locals. Forget those touristy outfits; this is your chance to truly embrace la dolce vita!

One big tip: leave the gym shorts… for the gym or your hotel room. Many churches won’t even let you in wearing shorts, and Roman men rarely wear them outside of sports.

Here’s what I recommend you pack:
  • Long pants: lightweight, breathable fabrics will keep you cool.
  • A mix of long-sleeve and short-sleeve shirts: perfect for day-to-night transitions.
  • A versatile sports coatgreat for dinners, church visits, or even just making an entrance at an evening event. Plus the sports coat will keep you warm on your flights to and from Rome.
  • A stylish pair of sneakers: comfortable enough to explore Rome’s cobblestones but still stylishly sharp.
  • Dressy style shoes like monk straps, brogues or loafers: perfect for evenings out and upscale venues. Roman men are incredibly stylish, and you'll want to match their sartorial confidence as you stroll through the Forum or sip an aperitif in Trastevere.
Roman style is refined yet effortless — and you can achieve the same vibe with a little planning.
